A warm spell in late March brought Blue Birds here early. The first week of April had snow, daily highs in the upper 30s - mid 40s F with daily lows in the 20s - low 30s F. The pair in our backyard seemed to have survived the cold and snow, finding a few bugs during the warmest part of the day. I've been cleaning out English Sparrow nesting litter on a daily basis. Yesterday I left the swing door open but I'm not sure how long I should keep it open. The sparrows seem a lot more numerous this year than previous years. This was the first year we had blue birds hunting daily in the backyard. It's fun to watch them, especially when the male brings insects to the female which happens occasionally. I hope they stay this year. We'd see some in previous years but they found other places to nest. I took the photos from our dining room window, using a Canon Rebel XT with a 75-300 mm zoom.
