Meteorolist Paul Douglas on global warming: right idea, not-so-recent news

advertisement

Was Douglas fired by CBS at least partly due to what he wrote about global warming in this Minneapolis Star Tribune?

... "Climate change over the next 20 years could result in a global catastrophe costing millions of lives in wars and natural disasters - disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life - the threat to global stability vastly eclipses that of terrorism." ...

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I think people always get bent out of shape when it comes to talking about a prediction. Is he right? It doesn't matter. We should be allowed to speak our own opinions. If this was a religious group, people would think that this person(s) is crazy for saying such things. What it boils down to is we need to move ahead. I don't think the fired him because of this instance. They were doing (lean management) the only way that most of the business people know how, that is to trim the big money makers and let them go. This makes the stock holders happy, because it closes the margin of loss to make it look better while not caring about the person they just let go.
