Fuel used in transportation - CO2 reduction plans take some flak in Minnesota
As a result of Minnesota's population and economic growth and an increase in total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) during the 1990s, on-road gasoline use grew 31% between 1990 and 2005. Meanwhile, on-road diesel use rose 49% during that period, suggesting an even more rapid growth in freight movement within or across the state. Aviation fuel use grew by about 30% from 1990 to 2005.
